CASTLE AND BALL
Formerly the Antelope from 1745 to 1763 it was then named the Castle and Ball which may be a misspelling of Castle and Bull, both of which are to be seen on the Borough Arms. Recently a "hidden room" was
discovered

THE HIDDEN ROOM

This 5 metre by 3 metre room has been "rediscovered", although tradesmen had obviously been in this room many times, the Castle and Ball Hotel knew nothing of its existence. The room is above an old stable block and was found complete with wine bottles, crockery, straw mattress and various newspapers from 1892.
