St. Peters & St. Pauls Church
A Church has existed on this site since the 11th century probably built to serve those who worked on the Castle. The present church was built about 1460 and was one of the few buildings to escape the great fire in 1653. Thomas Wolsey later to become Cardinal Wolsey was ordained Priest here in 1498.

ST. PETERS FORMER CHURCH
There is a church building at each end of the High Street- St. Mary’s the Parish Church and the redundant former church now run by St. Peter and St. Paul (Marlborough) Trust for community uses. The Trust have preserved the chancel and sanctuary as it was at the end of the nineteenth century; the North aisle accommodates a café for visitors and the West end houses an Arts and Crafts shop.  Art exhibitions, concerts, sales, farmer’s markets are held in the now deconsecrated building.  An annual civic service is held on the Sunday nearest to St. Peter’s Day attended by the Town Mayor in state.  A National Lottery grant supported by a successful public appeal is funding a restoration project and building and restoration works are due to begin in the Autumn.
