The objects of the MLHG are the advancement of public education in history and archaeology with particular reference to the history of Marlborough and surrounding villages.

Meetings are held in most months in the evenings, currently at St. Peters Church, in Marlborough High Street. In summer several visits are arranged.

Membership of the MLHG currently exceeds 70. The annual subscription is £10 per year. Visitors or guests, by prior arrangement, £3 per head.
